This morning, as I was walking from my car to the office, a man watering down the sidewalk scattered a small group of sparrows up into the air. One of these sparrows decided to alight on my right shoulder and stayed for way longer than I expected. The sparrow is traditionally a symbol of the common, vulgar and lewd for a lot of cultures. I guess we can all speculate on what that means.
Anyway, it reminded me of a scene from a graphic novel I half wrote a few years ago (and by half wrote I mean story boarded and abandoned). I never fully developed the main character, 0834221-GH22, into a fully fleshed out visual entity. She was the result of genetic testing (yes, I know) aimed at creating real life heros and heroines based on Disney characters. 0834221-GH22 was the Snow White prototype and had the ability to communicate and lead small animals, but her favorite type of animal to interact with were small birds.
Anyway, after my experience this morning I decided to go ahead and make my first drawing of 0834221-GH22. Let me know what you think.
